Hi
He was born on 22nd August 1922. He began as a night-fighter pilot with NJG6. On 8th April 1944 he was shot down in combat with Allied Mustang's, he baled-out of his Bf109 16km East of Hannover, Germany, but his parachute failed to open and he fell he his death. He made nine claims, of which eight were confirmed:- 27th September 1943 II./Jg301 Uffz B-24 W-S-W of Hannover 2308 hrs 5500 metres Nr.1 27th September 1943 II./Jg301 Uffz B-24 30km S-W of Hannover 2324 hrs 4500 metres Nr.2 2nd December 1943 II./Jg302 Uffz 4-eng Berlin area 2020 hrs 3400 metres A.S.M Nr.3 2nd December 1943 II./Jg302 Uffz 4-eng 30km S-S-W Berlin 2038 hrs 4200 metres Nr.4 24th December 1943 II./Jg302 Uffz 0415 hrs 5000 metres v.n.e-a.s.m Nr.5 2nd January 1944 6./Jg302 Fw Lancaster 0256 hrs Nr.6 6th January 1944 6./Jg302 Fw Lancaster West of Stettin 0341 hrs u/c 21st January 1944 6./Jg302 Fw 4-eng 2315 hrs Nr.7 24th March 1944 6./Jg302 Fw 4-end 20km South of Berlin 2237 hrs 4000 metres A.S.M Nr.8 Regards Johannes |

Quote:
The 4th, 354th, 355th and 357th FG had collectively 50+ claims between Brunswick, Celle, Gifhorn, Gardelegen and Wittingen area. I could find nothing specifically for Hannover, per se. All of the US fighter groups engaged LW inbound to Bruswick so the initial clash could have been near Hannover, but the battles with Mustangs were east of Hannover. P-47 credits were inW/Dummer Lake, Meppen, Quackenbruck areas - well west of Hannover and Brunswick. |
