Ju 88 forced landing at Vik, Norway May 1940
Searching more information regarding this forced landing on a flat field at Vik in Brønnøysund. There were no loss of lives. The name of the pilot was Eugen Kretchmer (he survived the war). One of the crew received a shot in the belly when they were caught the next day.
They probably belonged to KG 30. The forced landing took place on the 20th. of May-40, according to a book written by Dag Skogheim: "Fiender og Mennesker" Hope someone here can help with more detailles, names, confirmation of date etc. regards Kjell |

Thanks to Robert and Chris.
They took off from Vaernes/Trondheim on this mission, according the book. I assume they then belonged to I./ KG 30 Still searcing for the names of the crew. regards Kjell |
Re: Ju 88 forced landing at Vik, Norway May 1940
Hello Kjell,
My version of the EoE Luft Loss DB has: "May 20, 1940: Z./KG30 Junkers Ju88C. Forced-landed in Bindalsfjord, 80km north of Namsos, due to engine trouble following escort sortie for Ju52 supply drop at Narvik. FF Fw Eugen Kretschmer and BF Gefr Konstantin Erhardt both captured unhurt, BS Obergefr Fritz Vogt escaped and returned June 10. Aircraft 100% write-off." My entry may be obsolete as it doesn't contain the plane code mentioned above by Robert. Regards, |
