Russian airfiled name used by the Luftwaffe

Can anyone help with the name 'Tschugijew', known to have been used by the Luftwaffe in summer 1942 at least?

Here is what I have so far:

Tschugujew (e. Chuguyev) - S Russia (37 km SE Kharkov); Zfp.; ZNr. 52; Mq. Z50602
General: airfield in E Ukraine 37 km SE of Kharkov (Kharkiv) and 2.5 km WSW of Chuguyev. Very large with grass surface and numerous buildings. Lw. (JG 3) began occupying on 8 May 42 and much construction commenced.
Air Units:
Station Commands: Fl.H.Kdtr. E 62/XI (Feb 43); Platzkdo. of Fl.H.Kdtr. E 61/XI (Kharkov/North) (Jun 43).
Station Units (on various dates): Lw.-Bau-Btl. 5/XVII (May 42).

"Chuguyev" is the generally accepted English language spelling. It may now be different in Ukrainian, and certainly different when Cyrillic is used.

John,

the place you're looking for was spelt Tschugujew in German records and stands for an a/f some 20 kms south east of Charkow - or Charkiv nowadays. You can google it and find it as Chuhuiv now.

Cheers

Jochen

Thanks Larry & Jochen for the information. I have a couple of photos of a Bf 110 E fighter-bomber annotated Mai-Juni 1942 together with the airfield name on the reverse of the photos. I'm trying to identify the unit. Unit code is not visible due to the angle the photos were taken.

Dear John,

Tchuguev - was a large airbase with airfield, airscool (Tchuguevskoe Aviatcionnoye Uchilische - for examplte 63 vic. ace I.Kozhedub "got his wings" in Tchuguev).

Tchuguev airfield was used as a main field for operations on Voronezh front.

For example, by ZG2.

I/ZG 2 and II/ZG 2 had a few accidents at that airfield in June 1942.
