I need help with two He111Hs FL during the Scandinavian Campaign
Hello,
1) Does anyone have any info on this He111H-3, a/c code unknown, that I believe made a forced-landing or had a gear collapse in the Stavanger area of Norway during the spring or summer of 1940? The W.Nr. was probably 5615, and it was assigned to either I or II./KG26. 2) Does anyone have an date/place/crew info on He111H 1H+KP that made a force landing in Norway during the same period. This was not the same a/c as above. I have a photo of an He111H in the EoE DB with this code not force-landed, with the W.Nr.4471, but I don't know if these are the same a/c or not. Regards, |

Larry.
In this thread I have posted a picture of 1H +KP at what I think is Stavanger airport. Have unfortunately no more additional information at this point. http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=29361 |

This WNr. block doesn't appear in losses until after 1940. |

Hi Larry, since this thread last aired August 2012 have you been able to establish the identity of W.Nr 5615?
It would appear KG26 were allocated a large batch of these Heinkel 111H-3's within the W.Nr 56** series possibly from late 1939. Would anybody happen to know anything regarding possible Stkz, or allocation dates. Best regs, Steve. |

Evening Jim, thanks for responding.
Yes i have the Baltabol flugbuchs myself and im afraid im quite dubious to the accuracy of some of these W.Nr batches and Stkz codes. I would really welcome any news on the allocation of Heinkel111's to KG26 during the early part of the war, alas i dont think any information will be forthcoming. Would be nice to confirm W.Nr 5615's identity. Kindest regs, Steve. |
