Can anyone confirm a Hudson was lost to German fighters (7/JG 2) over France on this date?

Re: Hudson Loss 23 Mar 42
Hi Chris
I have Hudson AM811 of No.407 Sqn out of Thorney Island as may have been shot down by Uffz W Reuschling of 7./JG2 at 14:20 hrs. Regards Ross |

From Tony Wood's files 23.03.42 Uffz. Willi Reuschling 7./JG 2 Hudson £ - 14.20 Film C. 2036/IIAnerk: Nr.59 Perhaps the Hudson in question escaped ? Alex PS, AM811, 407/233 - FTR - 23.3.42 (Lockheed Hudson by Andrew Hendrie. |
Re: Hudson Loss 23 Mar 42
Thanks both. A check of the CWGC site and I came to the same conclusion and yes, it would have been Uffz Willi 'Bill' Reuschling's kill. I have the crew as:
FS M D Gallagher, AC1 J W Hooper, FS E J F Paquette, FS E J Graham, FS R J Thompson, AC1 F W Palmer & LAC J J Price Were they on a transfer flight back to Bircham Newton? |
Re: Hudson Loss 23 Mar 42
Hi Chris,
Tasked from Thorney island on a Nav Ex. F1180 records 6 missing, my crew list omits Price but lists the other six names. It was noted that the intended course would take the aircraft some distance out over the Channel. Regards Ross |

Re: Hudson Loss 23 Mar 42
Ross: I might be wrong about Price. Do you know who was the pilot/Captain? Suicidal carrying out such an exercise in daylight mid-Channel

Re: Hudson Loss 23 Mar 42
F1180 confirms the ORB details of Sgt Thompson RCAF as captain.
