407 Squadron RCAF
Seeking further information concerning Wellington XII, MP634 and crew details. Pilot : F/L R.C.Kenmuir. Aircraft took off from St.Eval at 15.05 but was abandoned at 02.00 after w/t failure and lack of fuel. Who were the other crew members and where did the abandoned a/c come down ? Presume crew became lost during patrol.
Any help would be welcome. Graham Holmes Lashenden Air Warfare Museum |
Re: 407 Squadron RCAF
Wireless equipment packed up and QDMs could not be received then became lost and abandoned when fuel ran out.
The C of I gave bad captancy endorsements to both pilot and nav. Regards Ross |
Re: 407 Squadron RCAF
Many thanks, Ross. We picked this story up from a local ARP Incident Book which described the arrival by parachute of members of the crew, but it doesn't name them of where the a/c came down. It's assumed that it managed to stay airborne and came down away from the ARP district.

Re: 407 Squadron RCAF
Not very precise, but my notes show the crew bailing out over Kent.

Re: 407 Squadron RCAF
One of the crew members landed at Cranbrook at 02.50hrs and the rest in Sissinghurst, Frittenden and Headcorn villages. But who were they ? I've only got details of the pilot.
