Question about luftwaffe raids on Moscow

Hi Guys,

Aside from the most commonly known statements made about the luftwaffe attacks against Moscow some essential information eludes me. I need to pin down the dates of all the raids in July and August 1941. Generally I find just a total number but no dates. Can anyone point me to more thorough sources ?

Thanks
Oquaig

Re: Question about luftwaffe raids on Moscow

There is a two volume set of paperback books in Russian titled "Unknown Battle for Moscow Skies" that has information on the Luftwaffe raids on Moscow in 1941. There is a summary (in German/Russian) of the losses of KG28 during the attacks on Moscow.
Unfortunately, its all in Russian except for some reproduced German documents.

Thank you both.

I have no problem with Russian, as for the BAMA as much as I would like to go back to Germany, I do not for see myself being there anytime soon.

But thanks again.

Yes, thanks. I have a copy. Khazanov covers the topic in a little more detail in "Bitter Lessons" but the most I could glean from that is that there were 9 raids in July and 16 raids in August. (But which nights in July were there no raids ?)
In Hooton's book the subject gets a half a paragraph and a mention of I./KG28, III./KG26 and KGr.100 flying 358 sorties against Moscow in July, but no note either on the source for that statement nor reference to any other units involved.
