eBay; Fi156 with unknown emblem
 

On eBay here is a Fi 156 with an emblem I cannot find in the usual sources. It appears to be shield with an eagle above a tank. I'm sure I have seen it before. It has the same 'contents' as 11(H)Pz/11, but clearly a different design. Any answers will be much appreciated.

Hello Ian,

This appears to be a variant of the emblem you refer to. I have seen at least one such variant where the skill of the artist was the issue. For example, I've seen two different rendering styles for K&R 672 (1998). Or we are looking at an unknown emblem.

I Believe that this emblem may belong to the panzer General von Kleist who is seen in a number of other photos offered by the vendor. I reckon this is his personal aicraft..Can't prove it but I believe there is a connection. The aircraft lacks a eastern theathre band and as Kleist was in command of 1st Panzer Armee then he would have merited at least a Storch.
