flame exhausters?
 

Hello all,

When rearranging some aero jumble found on 'my' airfield Venlo 20 years ago, I came across this strange device which seems to be a sort of flame exhaustpipe that could be attached to the 'normal' exhaust pipes.

I strongly suspect that it is of US origin, but I have no idea/knowledge about which US aircraft had such exhaust pipes. During the US use of Venlo airfield (then called Y-55), we had mainly B-26's, A-26's, P-47's, P-38's.

Who recognizes this part? Any help is much appreciated! All the best,

Do you know or can you measure the exact diameter of the circular opening? If it come out "exact" in inches or fractions of inches or in centimeters we can probably have a better idea of what we are dealing with.

Similar to what I have seen on the P40 models and Allison engines. I found the attached image on the Web.

Hello guys,

Thanks a lot! I could marry you if you were (handsome) girls! From memory - I don't carry this aero jumble with me all day - the diameter of the circular opening is about 5.5 to 6 inches.

Will try to dug out again the exhaust from a pile of boxes soon, to measure it up properly (unfortunately forgotten).
