Hans Philipp 1936-39

Hello,

I'm looking for information on Oberst Hans Philipp's early days, before he was posted to I./JG 76 (flight schools, fighter pilot training,...). I just know he joinded the Luftwaffe in 1936 and served in a unit equipped with the Ju 87 Stuka (?).

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for the link.
I read that Hans Philipp was promoted Leutnant in 1938.
It would be interesting to know in which unit he was posted right after that.

As I was looking at the end of Philipp's career rather than its start, I did not make a copy of this document held by the BA-MA at Freiburg:

BA-MA ZA 3/337, Oberst a. d. Hannes Trautloft, Kurzbiographie Hans Phillips, 14.2.1957.

Hello,

You maybe want to have a look at: Ritterkreuzträger profile Nr. 11 "Hans Philipp" by Gerhard Steinecke, UNITEC- Medienvertrieb.
According to this booklet after Luftkriegsschule Berlin Gatow he joined I./KG 253 the later KG 4 "General Wever" around 1. March 1938 but not for long, because on 1. of May 1938 he came to Jagdfliegerschule Werneuchen.

All the best

Norbert
