Help with locations - Italy/Sicily 1943
 

While researchin some operations, I have found two locations either in Italy or Sicily, that I cannot verify. They are THORNINK and PALAZZOLO. Also I have found a mission 'Patrol to Pover Siracusa'. I understand it is Patrol to Cover Siracusa but want to assure myself.

Dear Mr. Grabowski,
Palazzolo should be , Palazzolo Acreide (that is often called simply Palazzolo) a small town 35 kilometres west of Siracusa.
There is no Pover Siracusa as far as I know , so your assumption about the patrol to cover Siracusa should be exact.
I don't know nothing about Thornink apart that in my opinion this is not an Italian name and there is no Italian town with this name. May be a German name or perhaps the name given by the Germans to an Italian place may be the contest of use can help for better understanding.

THORNINK could be TAORMINA in Sicily: the number of the letters is the same and the differences could be due to typing or copying errors.

Thank you to you both for the replies.
The mission I was looking for was Patrol E of Mount Etna from Catania to THORNINK, so indeed Taormina would make perfect sense!
