When disbanded its thirty aircraft were transferred to other unit.

Re: Kampgeshwader 60

Hi to all,
found this thread and I'm interested in further details of this event.

a) Which Allied night fighter unit has reported the shot of the german planes?
(any mission reports?)
b) Does anyone know the first name of Fw Lübbeke, pilot of Ju 88 A-14, 4295 ?

Greetings, digedag1

Take a look at the ULTRA messages for that period which can be viewed online at the UK National Archives. Try files DEFE3/797 and DEFE3/798.

Re: Kampgeshwader 60

Thank you Nick,
have found only some unspecific reports in the ULTRA messages concerning German
attacks on harbours in North-Africa (DEFE 3/797, image 561; DEFE 3/798, image 138).
I rather think the Ju's were shot down by nightfighters from No. 255 Squadron, RAF.
But no entry for this period in the units scoresheet (www.255.org.uk).
Obviously a gap. The night missions from 20 Dec 1942 to 02 Jan 1943 are not documented.
