Seeking W.Nr. of a/c flown by Hptm Werner Mölders from 09.39 to 05.06.40

Hello,

For the EoE project, we're doing a complete series of color profiles of the a/c that Werner Mölders flew during 1939-40 with I & III./JG53 and Stab./JG51. We've identified at least seven different 109s that he flew during that period, six Bf109Es and one Bf109F-1. We're attempting to profile all of them, including alternative markings and camouflage patterns as they evolved over time.

The one that he flew as Gr Kdr of III./JG53 is well known from photography. It carried W.Nr. on the fin in the standard location, but, despite several photos showing this area, none are clear enough to decipher the W.Nr. Does anyone have photo that shows this area of the tail of his <<+I clearly enough to read this W.Nr.?

Remí,

You're right. I didn't look at my caption. The total of seven a/c is from 9.39 to 12.31.40, not 05.05.40 as my caption says. The F-1 was flown during the last quarter of 1940.

His Bf 109 F-1 was an early production machine, W.Nr. 5628, SG+GW, that was still active in July 1941.

Thanks Harold, What sources do you have that state his original F-1 (WNr.5628) was in use until July 1941? We have photos that show Mölders F-1 sporting stab markings during this period but was it WNr.5628 (SG+GW) repainted or another F-1? A primary source if you know of any would be welcomed. :)
