Priller's Bf109 E-7 , WNr.7677, 1./JG 26, Weisse 8, With Eagle Emblem.
Hi guys,
Times ago Luftwaffe im Focus N°8 did publish a photography of a Pin, 1./JG 26 Eagle emblem. Here is the plane. Pin was right & drawing suggested in LWiF N°6 wrong, of course. The picture under has been published in Flugzeug Classic 2010-02. You can find the same White 8 in Prien 4.I page 301, without the emblem. In same Flugzeug Classic - same picture than the one published in Prien - we can see that the Eagle has been painted over. Regards, Franck. |

Hi Guys,
I cannot resist! In Prien's book cited upper the picture (page 301) is captioned June 41 (which is right) and 20 victories (which is not) If Luftwaffe.cz (Luftwaffe experten) is right concerning Priller victories' list He got his 27th on 27/6. And, fortunatly White 8 on same picture wears 27 victories. See scan under taken from Flugzeug Classic 2010-02. Means the picture has been taken 27/6 or later, that is out of range of Prien's period (book stops on 21/06). Regards, Franck. |

Hello ouidjat,
Is there a date (I assume close to date of second foto.. mid June/41 perhaps?) & location? Possibly the Gravelines area? Thanks. |

Hi Oberst,
No date, no place given. I mean, I don't know, I received those scans by mail. Good question, I will ask for. November seems to be a good guess: Eagle didn't last, white clothes for mechanicals and obviously it was cold time. Note that the emblem is flipped horizontaly comparing with the pin and other - bad - existing pictures. Regards, Franck. |

Hi all,
last minute detail: Thanks to David who pointed it on his site. Weisse 8 is an E-7/Z. Watch two hatches on fuselage side; one bottom of the "8", the second just upper ... on due place. Regards, Franck. |

I had a hunch that was a E-3.. now I know its E-7Z! Thanks for the additional information! :)

Why not if these said photographs are well captioned. I've never seen, yet that beast on 1941 camouflaged machines. But it's possible on Erg. JG 26 machines. Few months ago we got a picture on eBay, taken at cazaux. Cheers, Franck. So, pity we don't see the score board on the present picture. And remember that Pips flew a White 13 too (at the beginning in 1./JG 26?) |
