Jon,
Are you sure you don't mean Halstead? Also, if you could post a date or month it would help. Regards Dave |

Happy to help but agree Dave's comments. My money is on SELSTEAD.

Re: Please help me trace a downed Battle of Britain BF109
Hello.
Thanks for the responses, I have just picked up a single very bent prop from a I09 to add to my collection. The only details on it is a small label with the words..... BF109 Location Salstead, Kent ? I assume it is from a 109 but could be from another type perhaps ?? Regards Jon |
Re: Please help me trace a downed Battle of Britain BF109
It is just possible that you have one of the propeller blades recovered from Selstead Farm, Wootton, by the Ashford & Tenterden Group back in 1972. If so, then available evidence points to it being from Bf109E-4 (WNr5395) of Oberlt Erich KIRCHEIS the Geschwader Adjutant of Stab JG51 who baled out over Wootton on 28 August 1940 landing at Gatteridge Farm, Denton. But be aware that this so-called 'provenance' is based entirely on the label attached & I, for one, would not accept it as such.
