Re: Salza !
Hello Frans,
If you should have the NVM, can you see where Salzer is born and when? At the I./NJG 1 in Venlo a Oblt. Fritz Salzer died in a crash with a Bf110 on 20 December 1943. Just curious whether there is a family tie or not... All the best, Marcel / Venlo |

Re: Salza !
Hello Rémi,
a certain Hauptmann Mayer from I/JG 77 made an emergency landing at Capo Orando on 25. July 1943 (source: Prien et al.). No other man with this or a similar name reported from any other unit. As for "Salzer" and "Salza": in spoken German language words ending with "er" often are pronounced like "a" (dull German "a", not the British or US articulation). This is especially true for speakers from southern Germany or Austria. So a guy named "Salzer" may be known to his fellows als "Salza". @marcel: Albert Salzer was born 2.8.1920 at St. Pölten/Austria. Re: Salza !
Hello Carl,
Thanks for the info: then it is very unlikely that they were related. Just wanted to be sure. All the best, Marcel |
