Ju 88 identification (Incomplete Werknummer)

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I have attached a poor picture (…an excerpt) of a wrecked Ju 88 in the remains of an hangar at Avord airfield, France. Just after the departure of the German troops from Avord (around 10-15th of September 1944), the airfield was occupied by some French Maquis units to take care of the place before the arrival of regular troops. The picture was taken at this moment. With this bit of digits (...30132... ?) I would like to know if it is possible to have the complete Werknummer and “icing on the cake” to know the unit to which belongs this plane.

All the best,
Frederic

Hi Schnautzer,

If I may ask: What's the source for the Ju 88A? ( I have no I./KG66 losses for the 25th of April, but that could be due to the fact that most of my losses are based on the NVMs). And what do you mean with the Ju 188? Any further details? ( I have seen the whole picture, and it's a Ju 88 tail.)

Thanks in advance!

Marcel

Hello Snautzer,

Thanks a lot for this info but do you have a complete Werknummer and some additional details for this aircraft?

Best regards,
Frederic

I did not id the wrknr on the airplane only the KG that used the field.
see http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/archive/index.php?t-16066.html and also http://www.fred.henoff.free.fr/Flash/Avord_39_45.html

W.Nr.30132x should be a Ju 88A-4 assembled by Henschel , probably in early 1944. The two Ju 88s identified in the sources I have for that sequence so far are: 301322 and 301324, the first lost 100% at a location not listed and the second probably lost at sea. So there are several possibilities for your photo aircraft.

Best Regards,

ArtieBob

Hi Schnautzer, thanks for the clarification. I checked all my Crashed Enemy Aircraft Reports, but nothing on Avord and no Ju 88s with that W.Nr. on other airfields...

Marcel

Hello ArtieBob,

Thanks a lot for your message and these explanations. Now we have already the sequence…
As Marcel told me in a previous message (…about its painting pattern), I have a strong suspicion about the affiliation of this aircraft to KG 66’s unit. (At the time of this picture, KG 66 has left the airfield since about three months.)

All the best,
Frederic

Re: Ju 88 identification (Incomplete Werknummer)

Marcel perhaps because avord was used by Flughafenbetriebskompanien at that time?
