Molders 109s

I have seen conflicting pictures of the 109f-2 that Molders flew in Russia in 1941. I have seen the same plane with both a yellow and a white spinner. Does anyoone know if JG51 and more specifically, if molders had a yellow or white spinner(s) on his(their) plane(s)? A picture of his 109 would be an even greater help.
Thanks

Paul

Re: Molders 109s

Molders had a couple of differnet early F types, one he flew from late-Oct. 1940 through to about July 1941. From his logbook there appears to have been a backup machine which was not used anywhere near as often.

The there is the mis-identified machine with the '101' on the rudder. This is actually Lutzow's machine when he temporarily led JG 51 while Beckh was WIA.

Re: Molders 109s

Well, as pointed out by Jim P, profiles 2 and 3 are the aircraft of Günther Lützow and not Mölders. Prien's Jagdfliegerverbände series volume 6/1 offers photo of what appear to be 3 seperate aircraft flown by Mölders. For certain, none have a white prop hub. The earliest aircraft, from June 1941 is believed to have a yellow hub, later aircraft have darker hubs , more likely dark green. Don't trust profiles!! Look for photos(preferably color photos) then guess based on the black and white ones you are more likely to find.

Thank you Don I note your comment on profilers......many have of course studied photographs to make their profile, but you are correct a photo is always best.

A few more ideas..............

A modellers idea of Molder's aircraft with a yellow spinner

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...Moelders_2.jpg

A poor image perhaps but the nose is a monobloc colour so yellow seems likely, however the spinner seems darker......................if it is Molders aitcraft that is.

Lastly an IL-2 skinners concept this time with a dark-green/black spinner which could tie in with the photo?

Re: Molders 109s

The first image again appears to be the Lützow aircraft.

The second image can be found in Barbas' "Aircraft of the Luftwaffe Fighter Aces I", pg 168-169 (Schiffer printing). The prop hub in these photos is segmented 2/3 white-1/3 dark(green?).

Just a few more profiles from Mark Styling's excellent website.

Look at the bottom 3 profiles all marked as Molders machines.

The first shows the segmented hub.
