Last Wednesday this photo of a part of a recovered aircraft appeared in our newspaper.
It shows a plate with following letters and numbers Sach Nr 109.136-081 Werk Nr G 815 Hersteller ?au. ? is illegibly. The crashsite is near Tilburg (Neth). According eyewitnesses the a/c crashed in flames in 1943. Pilot baled out to safety. Regards, Paul |
Re: Recovered Me
Looks like this is a part of the aircraft, and I would guess that Heinkel made the part (manufacturer code fau)

Re: Recovered Me
Fellows,
the Ersatzteilliste (replacement-parts-list) Bf109 G dated January 1944 lists the Ersatzteilnummer 109.136.081 for the "Waffenabdeckung oben vollständig", which is the complete cover of the MG 131 guns in front of the cockpit. If the a/c crashed in 1943 it's a G-5 or G-6. HTH Carl |
Re: Recovered Me
Hi everyone,
Carl is right regardind the exact part marked with the Ersatzteilnummer 109.136.081. I'd like just to add that the Bf109 was certainly a G-5. If you look at the Ersatztelliste for the K-4 model, on page 6 you'll find a Baureihen-Übersicht indicating that Baugruppe 109.136 belonged to a G-5 fuselage (109F107). A G-6 fuselage (109F108) was Baugruppe 109.143. All the best, Tomislav |
Re: Recovered Me
A minor point perhaps, but I suggest that the fabricator code may be: jau.
If so, it's a part made by Neue Kuhler- u.Flugzeugteile-Fabriken Such a simple part is within the capability of a small firm, being a more appropriate source (in this case serving Messerschmitt) than a major aircraft producer (i.e., Heinkel) concerned with its own products and associated part sourcing. I will inspect 109 plates in my collection to determne if either jau or fau appear. |
Re: Recovered Me
The 109 plates inspection revealed two examples marked with jau, none with hau.
109.658 001H.001 G 744 jau 109.658 001H.002 28410/19 jau Both plates were discovered at RAF Kenley in the 1980s, having orginally been removed for intelligence purposes (from downed or capured aircraft) during the war. |
