Thanks for the additional details, Peter

The KGr.126 combat may have been on the night of 12/13 June 1940 - if it did occur.

May I ask you to check, please?

Brian,

As you say, night of 12/13 June. One source suggests it returned damaged following a brief engagement with a Hampden ?

13 June 1940: 2./KGr.126 Heinkel He111H-4. Reportedly attacked by RAF night-fighter during night mine-laying sortie and both engines damaged. Crash-landed at Dranouter, north-east of Hazebrouck, 12.30 a.m. FF Lt Günther Schulz, BO Lt zur See Hans Müller, BF Uffz Karl-Wilhelm Schlegel, and HS Uffz Helmut Müller all badly wounded and admitted to various hospitals. HB Oberfw Helmut Kaselitz (of 1./KG4) also badly wounded - admitted to hospital in Ypres. Aircraft 90% damaged - write-off.
