Re: A few photos 1-30-13
Thanks again, Ed!
One of the Ju 88 G-6 has it's W.Nr. 623 978 barely legible; this W.Nr. is so far undocumented in the Ju 88 G-6 LEMB database. The only known NJG unit based at Frankfurt Rhein-Main was II./NJG 4. Note also the Bf 109 G-6 or G-14 which might have been at one point on the III./JG 26 inventory (my educated guessing only, so beware;-))... Cheers Marc |
Re: A few photos 1-30-13
Hi Marc,
I question whether the Ju88G-6 which you suggest is WNr. 623978 is in fact from the 623XXX series. Rather, if its last-three is indeed 978, it is more likely to be either 621978 or 622978. While the latter Werknummer series each have multiple entries in the 62X9XX range, the highest Werknummer I have from the 623XXX series is 623432. Steve Sheflin |

May I suggest that the destroyed Ju 88G-6 under discussion here was WNr. 620 678? Another photograph of the derelict was auctioned on eBay.de, ca. 08.09.12.

Thank you everyone. It is interesting to see what look like spent artillery shell casings and a gun with an enclosure that looks like it came from a naval vessel, among the aircraft parts.
