Hello,

on 22 june 1944, 12 Fighter Groups of 9th USAAF were engaged as fighter-bombers over defenses of Cherbourg. I would like to know which groups were involved. If someone can help me ?

Claude,

I show the following Ninth Air Force fighter groups to have operated in/around Cherbourg area. However, others may have been involved so please don't take this as the definite answer. Hopefully some others can help, too. 36, 48, 50, 362, 367, 370, 373, 405, 406 and 474 Fighter Groups.

All my thanks Kent.
You are true, 12 groups were engaged as fighter-bombers but others were acting as coverture (apparently as 365th F.G.).
It seems 363rd F.G. and 368th were also operating as fighter-bombers over Cherbourg between 13:00 and 14:00.
