F/L William Laurie LANG 72296, killed 27/10/41

Hello everyone

Can anyone give me details for the loss of this Flying Instructor and his pupil, killed whilst training in October 1941 in Oxfordshire?

There's a biography of him on the Christ Church College Oxford memorial website, including his pre-war RAF career, but the only details they have for the actual accident are that they crashed at an Oxfordshire airfield in foggy conditions.

Regards

Simon

Difficult to track down but now have details

Lang died in following incident

27.10.41 Oxford I N6293 15 FTS 1 m NW of Upper Heyford Collision
27.10.41 Proctor lA P6064 755 Sqn 1 m NW of Upper Heyford Collision

He is down as Laing in Death Register (incorrectly) he was in the Oxford I also believe he may have been flying with Lieutenant Gregory Rupert Sims #105498 of King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) who is adjacent to him on Death Register

In the Proctor lA were Ty/Act/Sub Lieutenant Dudley M JONES killed
Naval Airman 2c Alfred G DAVIS # FAA/SFX 2207 also killde

Many thanks indeed Paul, that's exactly the info I was looking for.

I did wonder why I couldn't find him on FreeBMD, but as you found he's registered as 'Laing' in Ploughley District.

regards

Simon
