9 April 1941

Hi,

An He 59 of Seenotflugkommando 3 was escorted by a Schwarm of the Bf 109s from Oostende to Boulogne sur Mer that day. The 109s were engaged in fight with two Spitfire sections of the 64 Sqn at about 10.30am. From what Jadggeschwader were they ? Can somebody help me please ? Any comments much appreciated.
I know about Joschka Fözö´s later participation in this.

Regards,
Michal

Fozo made a claim for a Spitfire this day as did JG 53 off Dover with two Spitfire claims. This might not be relevant as the time is 17:50+. Also, JG 1 near E. De Kooj, but this would seem to be too far away.

Dear John and Michal,

I can only confirm that the claim of Fw Rudolf Mickel, 1./JG1, was indeed too far away. His victim was Spitfire X4712 of 3 PRU which made a subsequent belly landing on the Isle of Texel, The Netherlands.

Kind regards,

Hi John and Hans,

Yes those were claimed later and in other localities.
I can speculate about possible opponents if I think the Heinkel was escorted by 109s which were placed close to the point of departure of float a/c, so Oostende. It „points“ to JG 52. Stab was at Maldegem, I. Gruppe at Woensdrecht and Vlissingen. AND …
… base of II. Gruppe was Raversijde near by Oostende.
Is it a gage for possible answer after check-up of available source(s) to the JG52 history ?

Regards,
Michal
