Mystery Concerning Adolf Dickfeld Victories

Hi guys

My apologies if this subject has been written about previously but I am wondering if anyone would have any information concerning victories 132 and 133 of this ace? According to Prien he had claimed 129 victories by the time he was appointed Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 2 in November 1942. He claimed two victories with this unit in North Africa (130-131). The next two victories that I am aware of were claimed as Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 11 (134-135) according to Wood. His final victory (136) was purportedly claimed on 21 April 1945 with Stab/JG 80 against a P-47 fighter (I am aware that JG 80 "Hitler-Jugend" was never formed and this particular claim is not the focus of my question). Could anyone enlighten me on victories 132 and 133 or were the two victories he claimed with II./JG 11 actually these? Many thanks for any assistance.

Horrido!

Hi Leo

Forget what was previously quoted for this guy. His first 128 were in Russia. Then:-

30th November 1942 Bisley u/c
1st December 1942 Spitfire Nr.129
3rd December 1942 P-38 Nr.130
17th April 1943 B-17 Nr.131
15th May 1943 B-17 Nr.132
21st April 1945 P-47 u/c ?

There's no more!

Your learn nothing from his book.

Kind Regards

Johannes

Mystery Concerning Adolf Dickfeld Victories

Hello Johannes

Many thanks for your interesting response. I was wondering how it was possible for him to have claimed any victories from the time he was recuperating from the injuries suffered on 8 January 1943 and when he was appointed Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 11. Thank you for your answer.

Horrido!

Tony Woods knows what was in the records of the Luftwaffe's Abschußkommission and has reproduced for the benefit it researchers. I for one an grateful that he did this.

The people who "were there then" often had no idea what was happening, something which has been discussed on this forum many times.
