2(F)/11 Loss BofF
I have just obtained 2 photos which show a belly landed Do 17 of 2/11. Peter Cornwell has 2 other photos but the only BofF loss it could be is 15 May 40 at Mechelen but did this aircraft crash-land?

Not to my knowledge Chris, two of crew killed and one survivor baled out.

Re: 2(F)/11 Loss BofF
Hi Chris,
No, there are pretty conclusive eye-witness reports that the Do17 of 2.(F)/11 smashed into the ground at Wezembeek-Oppem (not too far from Bruxelles). All crew died and nothing left of the aircraft. If the aircraft of which you have the pictures is indeed from 2.(F)/11 then it is almost certainly no incident between 10 and 20 May. Unless the a/c was flown by another unit and lost under that units name. Regards, Pieter |
Re: 2(F)/11 Loss BofF
I wonder then if it was a Poland loss?

Narrow or wide fuselage cross?

Re: 2(F)/11 Loss BofF
The photos (all 4) are taken from the front-2/11 badge clear on nose, red spinners. No shot shows any other markings

Re: 2(F)/11 Loss BofF
Well, this is a good question when they started to paint this badge?
