Kittyhawk; FX 613; 5 Sqn; Lt. Howitz; 16.2.1944; Croatia
oi!
About this Kittyhawk I found just this: "Bombing barracks on Pasman Island, the a.c seen diving into the ground, presumably s/d by flak. " Probably he attacked Germans in town Tkon on Pasman Island, and I have Browning machine gun from P-40 that crashed near town Biograd na Moru, just 4km away on oposite side of Tkon. Eyewitnesses told me that plane crashed and burned and that pilot died. Serial number of Browning is 258704, and it does not belonge to any MACR of US P-40 from 57FG that crashed in Croatia. And from all P-40 that crashed in Ex-Yugosalvia this is closest to my crash location. So, does anyone have anything more about Lt. Howitz and that crash? thanks Raus http://imageshack.us/a/img547/7113/dsc00046tk.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img29/4836/dsc0005230.jpg |
