Secretly purchased with funds from within a Prisoner Of War camp in Germany. The aircraft named ‘Unshackled Spirit’ flew operationally with the Royal Air Force; the name of this Spitfire reflecting upon the audacious and inspiring men who continued to contribute to the war effort from behind barbed wire. How this was achieved is evidenced in previously secret documentation and communications between Germany and Winston Churchills son in law. The book continues with accounts of various pilots and air crew in many PoW camps who compiled detailed 'Prisoner of War Logs'. Their individual stories are unique and illustrated in detail.
