Stab Staffeln Composition Questions

I apologise in advance if this has been covered before however, I have tried a search without result.

Firstly, in a Geschwader Stab, I take it that the Geschwader Kommodore was the senior figure, and therefore there was no requirement for an assigned Staka?

Secondly, in a Gruppe Stab, was the Gruppenkommandeur the senior figure of the Stab, or indeed was a seperate Staka assigned?

To that end, if there was a requirment for an assigned Staka in either of these positions, I am currently researching:

Stab II./KG40 06-41 - 10-41
Stab KG40 10-41 - 01-42
Stab KG2 01-42 - 04-42

As always, any help whatsoever will be very well received indeed.

Regards Richard.

Re: Stab Staffeln Composition Questions

In my experience, most bomber geschwader did have a Stab St Kap but according to Balke, for KG 2, this ceased 1 Nov 41 but was reintroduced 1 Jun 43. Stab II/KG 40 would not have had a St Kap. As far as I am aware, KG 40 (due to its different nature) did not have a Stab St Kap but I stand by to be corrected

Richard: have you looked at Michael Holm's site? Might be some help.

Chris, thank you very much for that, it is exactly what I am looking for.

John, yes indeed that is always a port of call in doing any research, thanks for taking the time to post the link anyway.

Regards Richard.
