that's right, this seller offers new reproduced photos as originals. Most of these kind of photos are offered as original from old archives in Russia. THAT'S DEFINITELY NOT TRUE! All these are modern repros made in Eastern Europe or Germany on semi old paper, "decorated" with a stamp an some unreadable scribble on reverse side. That's why the sellers offer them for 10 EUR or 10 USD. |

I think he meant the markings are fake?

Re: Photos 12-2-05
Hi,
You are both right. The markings are obviously fake. There was no such combination of cheverons and they scream "touch-up"/"add-on". So the whole thing is a fake. bregds SES |
Re: Photos 12-2-05
The chevron combination is correct, the same photo (and others) are in Prien's "purple" series vol 6/I pg 76. The same chevrons were used earlier by Lützow.

that's absolutely right. You also find another photo at Rosch's "Luftwaffe codes, markings...". The fake is that the photo is not original. My suspicion is that the seller copied the photo out of Prien's book or somewhere else to make some money at ebay. That's the story behind the socalled "Russia archieve photos". In my opinion it's very sad. |
