Harry Parker 325th FG

according to STARS AND BARS Captain Parker of 318th FS/325th FG claimed 4 Bf109 and damaged 6 on 31/7/44 over Alexandria, Rumania between 1103-1140, but I have also read that his victories were over Bf110. Does anyone have details of the LW/Axis units involved in this combat?

regards

Keith

Re: Harry Parker 325th FG

Keith A This was on mission #42 for our P-51s. Quoting from the mission report, Lt. Parker claimed 4 Me-109s destroyed and 6 Me-109s damaged. The claims for the 325th Fighter Group on that date were 17 Me-109s destroyed; 1 Me-109 probably destroyed, 11 Me-109s damaged, and 1 FW-190 destroyed. I presume the supposed FW-190 was an IAR-80?? The Me-109s had formed a Lufberry Circle while our planes made yo-yo passes all the way from 26,000 feet to the deck. At 5,000 feet, Mustangs from another group joined the fray. The 325th FG lost one Mustang.

Cheers Art,

I'm adding notes to my old (and well-used) group history by McDowell. Little bits here and there to flesh it out. I am especially interesting in finding out more about your battles with the Rumanian and Hungarian air forces. I'm assuming there were quite a few Bf109s claimed in other combats that came from these countries.

best regards

Keith

Keith, I am uncertain what it is you mean by "your battles with the Rumanian and Hungarian Aair Forces?" Now that income tax time is over, I will try to answer any specific questions you may have but please remember, my experience was with ONE fighter group and so I know only a bit about the others.
Cordially, Art
