Mistel 1 combination
Hi,
As I'm thinking about this as a modelling project, I wanted to ask if the Mistel 1 combination of Ju88A & Bf109F was the only variation of a Junkers/Messerschmitt arrangement? It's always struck me as a little unusual that this idea being late-war in its implementation, would use the Bf109F. I always imagine that it would not have been the ideal machine to be in if intercepted by Allied fighters, even if this was after release of the bomber component. Does anyone have any information that might indicate a later version Bf109 being used operationally with a Ju88 (of any sub-type)? Codes and markings, if known, would be a bonus. Regards, Paul |
Re: Mistel 1 combination
Very few Mistel 1 (Ju 88 A-4, C-6, D-1 / Bf 109 F) were converted, as most produced were of Ju 88 G-1/G-10 and Fw 190 A/F versions (Mistel 2 & 3), but I have found A-4 / Fw190 mentioned. Possibly the Ju/Me combination was not powerful enough?
I have not done much research on this, still collecting info. |
