Grimsby raid, 14 June 1943

An interesting article in The Guardian marking 70 years since the raid in which the town was blanketed with SD 2s.

Somewhere I have the British post-attack analysis with maps of where the SD2s came down-quite an effective tactic!

Is it true that these were the first cluster bombs? I doubt that somehow. I would have thought the Italian spezzonis (I think the British called them 'thermos' bombs because they looked like a thermos flask?) would qualify as well, if not earlier ones.

All the best

Andreas
