KGr 100
I have seen several references to this unit during the Norwegian campaign, but have found no information as to its origin, mission, etc. Can anyone give me a pointer for material on the April-May 1940 period for this unit? Thanks in advance,

Re: KGr 100
Kenneth Wakefield did a book on this unit which covered the Norwegian campaign.
K Wakefield 'First pathfinders: KG 100' (Kimber 1981) He also did a book called Pfadfinder: Luftwaffe Pathfinder Operations over Britain, which extended his earlier work. |

Hi Art,
I did a quick check of British National Archives file HW 5/1, and there is at least one reference to the unit, from 17 April 1940. It mentioned an aircraft marked '6N + GK' landing at Oslo at 11:30 on that day, after flying from the unit's base at Lüneberg. I'd assume that there would be more references to the Gruppe in ULTRA. The deZeng/Stankey work actually has quite good coverage of Kampfgruppe 100's formation on 26 August 1938 through the Norwegian Campaign. L. |
