P/O Vivian BRIDGES (169 Sqn) combat reports
Hello,
I was unable to find out (and order at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...eports-ww2.htm) the combat reports of P/O Vivian BRIDGES of 169 Sqn (W/op: P/O Donald WEBB). Perhaps they are not digitalized yet. I am particularly interested by two of them: 1°) On 10-11th May 1944, he claimed a Bf110 (of I./NJG 4) which crashed at 00h10 in Ellezelles. 2°) On the 7-8th July 1944, he claimed another Bf 110 (of 2./NJG 3) which seems to crash-land near Ladeuze. Those two losses occured roughly in the same area in Belgium. Is there someone who could kindly send me those two reports? It will save me a lot of time as I am not planning going to PRO. I thank you beforehand of your attention. Best regards ClinA-78 |

Re: P/O Vivian BRIDGES (169 Sqn) combat reports
Hi,
I think there are no combat reports of Bridges/Webb held by the TNA. The reports starts with 21 June 1944 and there is a gap and starts again with 7 August 1944. Please see the link: http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...rowse/D7461820 Rgds, Kaczmarek |

Re: P/O Vivian BRIDGES (169 Sqn) combat reports
Hello ClinA- 78
The Monthly Supplementary Narrative of Operations has a short summary of the combat report for the night 10/11 May: ´Night 10/11th May 100 Group a/c Mosquito “D” of 239 Squadron E. of AMIENS at 2354 hrs. height 8,000 ft. recognized a ME.110. The Mosquito at the range of 200 yds. pulled up and opened fire. Strikes were seen on the fuselage and starboard wing, and one engine blew up. The E/A then went down and was seen to crash and explode. The Me.110 is claimed as destroyed.´ For the night 7/8 July I assume it must be the following claim: ´100 Group Mosquito “J” of 239 Squadron, S.E. of Charleroi, at 0135 hrs, height 20,000 ft, when a ME.110 was identified. Fire was opened at 300 ft, hitting the E/A amidships in the fuselage. A tremendous explosion followed immediately and the E/A blow up right in front of the Mosquito, pieces flying back in all directions. The E/A was seen to burn on the ground. The Me.110 is claimed as destroyed.’ During the same night Mosquito “Y” claimed 2 Me.110s destroyed and “V” one FW.190 destroyed. Regards, Peter |
