Kommandeur 7./JG 26

Hello,
Does anyone have any idea where I can find a list of 7th staffel commanders?
I'm trying to find this for the period of the Battle of Britain.
Muencheberg was, at the time, assigned to Gruppe HQ as Gallands Wingman.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Sean

Staffelkapitäne of 7./JG 26

Hello Sean

Don Caldwell in the JG 26 War Diary Volume 1 1939-1942 lists:

Oberleutnant Georg Beyer from 11 December 1939 to 21 August 1940 when transferred to Stab/JG 26 followed by Oberleutnant Joachim Müncheberg from 22 August 1940 to 17 September 1941 when appointed Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 26. I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Leo

Sean
It would be Staffel Käpitan not Kommandeur

Re: Kommandeur 7./JG 26

One must be Karl Ebbighausen, Kommandeur II.Gruppe,he died at 16.8.40

Note:
At the 24th of june 1940 Major Gotthardt Handrick following Major Witt as Geschwader-Kommodore.

Re: Kommandeur 7./JG 26

But the question is III/JG 26 Staffel Käpitan not II/JG 26 Gruppen Kommandeur?

Re: Kommandeur 7./JG 26

Up to the end of 1943 JG26 Gruppen flew with 3 Staffeln, then following a 4th Staffel. I would say that Sean´s question (7.Staffel, Battle of Britain Aug.1940-May1941) means Gruppenkommandeur III.Gruppe

For example so as in october 1943 :

Gruppenkommandeure :
I. Gruppe
Major Borris

II. Gruppe
Oblt. Seifert

III. Gruppe
Major Mietusch

So Sean don´t asking for Staffelkapitän.

Johnny

I am more than aware of how many Gruppe & Staffel made up a Geschwader.

Leo is correct in that 7/JG 26 (part of III/JG 26 commanded by Maj Adolf Galland and then Maj Gerhard Schöpfel not Hptm Karl Ebbighausen of II/JG 26) was commanded by Oblt Georg Beyer to 21 Aug 40, then Oblt Joachim Müncheberg until 17 Sep 41. Sean was almost correct with his supposition

Chris - no doubt about your knowledge and that should be no lecture, ok ? So it seems like all ambiguities are eliminated ;)
