I have seen this for sale with an earlier cover, its the content that interests me & from reviews I have found it is a scholarly & interesting look at the other sides story. I'd be keen to read it myself some time.

There have been many books written about the Korean Air War from the US side. Great to see something covering the Communist side. It'll be a welcome addition to my collection.

Has anyone read this book yet? If so how good is it and does it treat both sides of the story.

Nokose,

I suspect that the book is not yet available. On the amazon.co.uk website its publication date is July 15, 2013, and it is noted as "Temporarily Out of Stock". But Amazon seems to use that phrase when they are well past publication date and have not received the book. Amazon.com shows my copy as arriving Sept 6 to 11. And Helion's page for the book shows it as not yet available, but published in August. As far as Helion is concerned, when I have it in my hand I will believe it. They originally announced Stalin's Falcons Resurgent by Mark O'Neill for publication in December 2011; their website now shows it for January 15, 2014.

I suspect this book is a translation of Igor Seidov's Sovetskie Asy Koreiskoi Voini, which is 451 pages, using a fairly small font. It wouldn't take much of an increase in point size to get to the 712 pages noted on the Helion website. And if Stuart Britton, the translator and editor, added much as editor the 712 pages is within reason. Still rather big. But when it is in my hands I will believe it has been published.

Seidov's earlier book was titled, and translated (by Hal Fischer) as Red Devils On the 38th Parallel. This was a considerably smaller book, 325 pages in Russian, 374 in English.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Discussion of the publication date for this book set up an alert in my mind so I went back & looked at the book I was thinking of, similar name, similar subject but not the same book, apologies to all.
Steve.

Thanks for that link, Steve. The reviews seem a little diffident about the book's value as regards to contributing to the actual history of the Korean air war in any detail, but-------

The reviews make me think it would be more use as a background resource than as a record of the day to day operations of this conflict, so complimentary to rather than as an alternative.
Steve.
