Re: Me 109 WNr. Search
Hi Steve:
Were did you get your information? There are Wnrs all around this, but not this one. |
Re: Me 109 WNr. Search
Just a quick noe it could be a G-6 as well since this G-14 block contains about a sixth of G-6.

Re: Me 109 WNr. Search
John,
The number was found on a fuselage WNr. data plate. Interestingly, it appears that the plate was reused/restruck. There is a faint indication of a previous WNr. entry; the earlier number (beginning with '5' I think) was ground away and the replacement number ('781188') entered. Possibly the original number was a G-6 predecessor or indication that the airframe used in the construction of this G-14 was recycled. All the best, Steve |
Re: Me 109 WNr. Search
Steve, this is most interesting. As Oliver says there were G-6s in this range as well, but mostly 14 and 14/AS types. It is possible, I suppose that a G-6 airframe was recycled or a change made on the production line.
Can you tell us the history of this plate? Or post an image? Is it a "wreckcovery", and if so where, etc.? Thanks |
