Bf-109G Strafing Attack Jan 25 1944 Italy
 

On January 25,1944 the 82nd FG base at Lecce was strafed by a Bf-109 equipped with a belly tank. The pilot was shot down by Beaufighters.

"The report came later that the 109 pilot had flown in from Greece on his lone mission."

In the book Adorimini: the Historyof the 82nd FG, the attack is reported as on Jan 11,1944. Which is correct? Anyone know anymore about the incident.
