Looks like Griffon powered Spits (XIV?) with the big tail.

Thanks Revi but one also looks like a Merlin powered Spit.

Does anyone know if Griffon Spitfires were stationed at Grangemouth with

No. 2 Combat Training Wing (changed again to No. 2 Tactical Exercise Unit at a later date

Is it possible to identify the code letters on the original print? That would be a great help.

No 2 Combat Training Wing was renamed too early for Griffon Spitfires, and 2 Tactical Exercise Unit was disbanded in June 1944, which also seems too early. The AB book on 2nd line units does not identify anything after a Mk.V, but the codes carried were PQ, XB and ZZ.

Could it be City of Glasgow RAuxAF?

Sorry Graham that is the best photo.

Would say not 602 Squadron?

Mystery solved. Not the Clyde but Loch Lomond.

The 602 City of Glasgow (Bomber) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force was disbanded after WWII in May 1945 and re-formed as a post-war fighter squadron at Abbotsinch in June 1946 using Spitfire and Harvard aircraft. In June 1949 they moved to Renfrew.

Spitfire Mk21 and Mk22's of No 602 Squadron RAuxAF on a formation flying training exercise while flying over the Loch Lomond district from their base at Abbotsinch airfield, seen on 7th November 1948.
