B17's Interned in Russia
 

Hi,
Seeking details of B17's interned in Russia.

One at least was reported forced landed at KHABAROVSK after bombing the Japonese. Details (serial number / crew names/fate) of this a/c welcome.

Were more interned in the Far East ?

Alex,
are you not referring to one of the well-known B-29s in Soviet Far East? What are your exact references to B-17 at Khabarovsk?

Page 202, colunm two Quote:
"At least one B17 force landed at Khabarovsk after bombing Japanese targets was interned and retained in Russia."

I have your update letter dated 2002 but nothing since then.

Alex - B-17s did not attack mainland Japan. 3 B - 29s interned , 1 B-25 from Doolittle Raid. The Kuriles were bombed by PV2s and B - 24s.
November 17th , 44 B -24 crash landed Kamchatka Peninsula. Crew interned. About 300 US Crewman interned in Russia.
