Trying some reverse logic here. Any claims for shooting down of a P-51 April 2nd 1945?

This is of interest to me due to the following:

Mission #281 April 2, 1945
Capt. Parker and #57 "Alba Marie Pippen" were flying
high cover for 18 members of the 318th Fighter
Squardron. His group was making fighter sweeps
and strafing targets of opportunities from Celjs to
Maribor to Graz to Bruck. He saw an aircraft flying
under his formation in the clouds. He dove into the
overcast skies to investigate and was last seen near
Klagenfurth, Austria. He was never found.
MACR #13641

Just on the off-chance that a victory was claimed in that area by the Luftwaffe (or other Axis forces) for the shooting down of a P-51, I make the approach on the Luftwaffe forums for information.

As the report mentions, he was never found, so maybe tracking down an area where he could have been lost, may start to reveal other facts?

I remember this region as rather mountaineous. There might be the possibility he simply hit the ground before finishing his dive. So this would be a crashsite in the mountains without any Abschußmeldung.

Hi Roland, thanks for the reply. It does make me wonder just how many undiscovered wrecks there must be on mountains if that was the case? It is of-course a possibility and maybe even a probability, I just thought that it may also be possible that there is a record of a P-51 being claimed in that area and have to ask the question.

Strange to think that this long after the war, many? aircraft wait to be discovered.

Cheers, MP
