Updating information in the Volksbund database

Hi, all!

Just a general question - would the Volksbund be interested in information we as researchers can provide them with?

I am not talking about generating completely new records, but updates to the ones they already have, but with information like grave or loss location missing.

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Updating information in the Volksbund database

They are happy for people to update their records from information given to them by anyone as long as you have proof. For the JG-52 pilot Siegfried Seyler he used to be listed as MIA with a 'general' date of 01/01/1943 but I sent them a scan from his Soldbuch where it had been officially noted by the III/JG-52 Adjutant that he was MIA on the 9th July 1943 and they subsequently updated that piece of his entry.

Hi Andreas,
From my experience all new information published in the Volksbund database has to be checked and verified by the Deutsche Dienststelle prior to release.
I have contact details for both organisations, should you need them.
Regards
Joe
