Luftwaffe claim of Spitfire BR602 7 Sep 1942
The other day parts of Spitfire BR602 were recovered in a forest just south of Brugge (Bruges), Belgium. Pilot Edgard Dickerson of 64 Squadron was killed when his a/c was shot down by a Fw-190 of JG26 on 7 Sep 1942.
I found the name of Uffz. Alfred Niese who made a claim N. of Dunkirk, but I believe this is linked to the loss of P/O Zdzitowiecki of 302 Squadron. Is there a Lw claim that matches with the loss of Sgt Dickerson? Thanks for the info. Regards, Leendert |

Chris,
Perhaps sustained combat damages and crashed later on... Will look further. Regards, Leendert |
Re: Luftwaffe claim of Spitfire BR602 7 Sep 1942
Andy Saunders and myself have always wondered about the 2 Spitfire crashes at Reninghelst-has anyone looked at them with a view to digging? Also the 609 Sqn Typhoon at Staden?

Perhaps the same Decuypere-Huyghe Groep which operates in that area ?
Typhoon crash at Staden was only superficial as the aircraft sprayed on the ground. Digs in Flanders (as well in Wallony) need now an official autorization. ClinA-78 |
