Does anyone have info/pictures of Oberfeldwebel, Alfred Surau JG3 and his bf109G-6, September 1943?

Does anybody have any anecedotes, pictures or info on the score of Alfred Surau, a BF109 pilot in 9./ jg3 during 1943? I only have one photo of his aircraft, "yellow 6", which I got out of Ospreys "Aircraft of the Aces-Defence of the Reich Aces", but it is small.
I would be very grateful for any pictures or info on him or his aircraft, as I will be collecting Corgi's 1/72 109G-6 model ..
It looks like a very attractive bird!

They only photo I know of is in Prien and Stemmers 'III./Jagdgeschwader 3' Page 320.

Bf 109G-6y; ... "Y" aerial is under fuselage.

Another photo has been put in auction recently (Last six month) were we can see a Bf109G-6 under forest edge cover, wearing the yellow eye on gun fairings.
- The photo is small
- I don't know if other machines wore this decoration or not. If not, then it's Surau's machine too ... I don't know were I did put it; for the moment ... We'll see! :)

Regards, Franck.

Freddie,

Beyond Franck's pointer, Jochen Prien and Gerhard Stemmer did publish in 1995 five other pics of 9./JG 3 planes sporting the"Holzauge" - literally wooden eye - decoration on the engine cowling bulge of their Bf 109 G-6's:

Prien, (J.) and Stemmer (G.) 1995: Messerschmitt Bf 109 im Einsatz bei der III./Jagdgeschwader 3, Struve-Druck, p. 322-323 and 345.

Besides the planes, there is also one close-up of Obfw. Alfred Surau on p. 321.
As for Franck's picture, it is part of a series of three pics depicting Bf 109 G-6 "Gelbe 7", the plane piloted by Lt. Ekkehard Tichy, all published in Prien and Stemmer 1995, p. 322-323.

Cheers
Marc

OUF!!!
I suddenly realised my photo does exist elsewhere!!!
I was afraid it was just "Weisse 7" from 4./JG 51 :D.

Come on Chris!!

I didn't know there were others in 9./JG 3, but I discovered that Weisse 7 in 4./JG 51 ... So, I was afraid it was that last one instead of a true 9./JG 3 ...

..just to derail the thread slightly, anyone know who "airpics" is, he always comes up with some great images..

FWIW 'gelbe 7' was Lemke's a/c (cf. Prien photo caption)

Surau had 46 'confirmed' vics ( 40-odd in just 4 months in the East...hmm), DKiG, and he was credited with the B-17 that shot him down, which was more or less usual 'practise' ...
