Re: Photos 10-5
Hi Gents,
Thanks Ed. Among the 3./JFS 2 serie offered in auction by Michael Mayer I've chosen this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Luftwaff...item58a5b1c6b5 Like the others the StKz is given as RC+H? "H" being attested by one of the photos ... And on this one we can see that the last letter is most probably an "L" ... Whatever, I'm surprised there is not that much comments about this since RC+H? batch is largely dominated (LEMD Data) by Do 217 E-2 with some others, when in Bert site we can find some Do 217s with much more "others" ... But no one Bf 109. I let you continue! :) Regards, Franck. PS: I know there are other stuff of interest than Bf 109s. :o Sorry, it's my drug. |
Re: Photos 10-5
Not seldom, as the 109 is a D model built long before the STKZ system came in force, it received is marking in his unit in autumn 39, as that block start with an He70 , with He111 nd Do17, the unit probably not the JFS 2, but some LZA or LD Kdo. or ...

Hello Rémi,
Thanks, I don't know if I understood but thanks anyway... Unit is definitly JFS 2. Those markings; Number under canopy then StKz is typical for this unit even that heavy mottle on fuselage sides. Regards, Franck. |
Re: Photos 10-5
You're welcome, Franck. I also like the Bf-109 and always enjoy finding unusual examples of the placement of markings, and unusual markings in general.
Best, Ed |
Re: Photos 10-5
May I suggest, Ouidjat, that the Bf 109 with SKZ beginning R C + is not the same airplane as the Bf 109 showing part of the last letters of its SKZ. That (the second) airplane seems to have been "+ I L" (note the outer underside of the port wing as well as the rear fuselage). This would explain away the conflict with the Do 217 SKZ block that you have noted.

Re: Photos 10-5
Rabe,
Ah you can of course. Seller is giving RC+H? for most of pictures. if it was RC+ alone (Bf 109 F-2 and Bf 109E) I would have said nothing. As for the "L" detail is another subject, different subject. The caption given is still RC+H? AND we can see the "L" ... So I did just put an add-on suggesting that maybe it is a RC+HL. Now if you don't agree, may I suggest another thing ..? In the front of exhaust, in line with it, there is a small rectangle, with a circle in the middle, like a stencil. We can see this stencil on all "Gelbe 8 RC+" photos, on the one where we can see the H Under the wing and the one where we can see the "L" As for the one with "I" Under wing there is no stencil and we can see aft fuselage where obviously there is no "L". Regards, Franck. |
Re: Photos 10-5
Did these Bf 109E belong to 2./JG 54?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/H087-Frankrei.../390673300706? The "dark spot" on the fuselage side (below the canopy) of "red 5" looks like the devil emblem of that Staffel. |
