"Dueppel" = ?

Can someone please inform me what/where "Dueppel" - the German code-name for radar-jamming tin foil strips is?

TIA,

BC

IIRC the Stanniol-strips were tested by Luftwaffe near Berlin - Düppel and got the designation Düppel.

From Wikipedia:

Düppel can refer to:
  • The German name for Dybbøl, a town in Denmark famed for an 1864 battle
  • Berlin-Düppel (named after the battlefield mentioned above)
  • Düppel Forest, a forest in south of Berlin
  • Chaff (radar countermeasure)

Several German electronic devices seem to have used place names (Lichtenstein, Hohentwiel, Kehl, Rotterdam-Gerät) so I suppose it does relate to one of the above places.

Gentlemen, thank you for the prompt and informative response, tells me just what I wanted to know. This month is of course, the 70th anniversary of the introduction of said device over the UK, 7 Oct 1943.
