eBay: one late war and one Kageneck Bf 109

Hi Gents,

Here for the Bf 109 G-10 (?)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-WWI...item1c37c77535

And here for the Graf von Kageneck machine:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/LW-Foto-ME-10...item4d13c0c10f

This last picture is amazing since it's obviously taken during winter 1941-1942, with the same score board than during the August accident in Tschudowo.
Any explanations/comments ?? for place as well.

Regards, Franck.

Graf von Kageneck machine: looks like it's in a scrapyard, no reason to leave your cockpit open in the snow, unless you like a frozen backside :D

This could explain some

http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109E/B...g-1941-01.html

It also appears that around this time the Bf-109F was coming on strength

The first 109 appears to be a G-10 of Erla manufacture. Note oil cooler - diagnostic of this version.

Cheers,

D.B.

Almost certainly an Erla machine. As you point out about the oil cooler shape. Also note the lack of external "bumps" to cover the 605 relocated oil lines. Erla did their own lower cowl design.

The electrical weapon equipment just infront of the windscreen is early (typical for G4-G14) though, smaller wheels, kidney bumps on wing...would this not be a G14/AS or similar...as opposed to G10?

Yup harrison, I would concur on an older G-6/AS or G-14/AS. Erla certainly built the former, but the latter is quite rare. I checked in my referenced pics and found only three documented by ascertained W.Nr.'s:

Hello Marc,

again: the W.Nr.464642 and 465381 are not factory built G-14/AS. In this range Erla didn't built such an version. Yourself said in your "late-war Me 109" - thread (#490) that's impossible to say for sure that's an G-14/AS.

Greetings
Rasmussen

Hallo Jörg,

I just double checked: W.Nr. 464 642 is legible and is a G-14/AS. As for W.Nr. 465 381, you and I are correct: no positive proof this was also a G-14/AS, alas...

Thanks!
Marc

Re: eBay: one late war and one Kageneck Bf 109

@Chris, yes.
@Don, yes too, but in August ... and the machine is not that destroyed when checking other available pictures.

Here the photo is taken in Winter 1941-1942 when III./JG27 did start to receive Bf 109F in Berlin-Döberitz, like you said, already away from Russia...
Normally, he got more victory between August and December ...
So, Where is this photo taken??
