Another III/JG 54 western front victory
 

For those interested in the subject of III/JG 54 in the west, I started a thread on the subject a long time ago. Here's another one from my database to re-ignite interest in the subject:

6.3.44/1449hrs, 7/JG 54's Lt. Eugen-Ludwig Zweigart claimed a B-17 at 500m altitude over Reinsehlen. It seems very likely this was finishing off the B-17G-10-BO 42-31240/F "Shack Job" of 561st BG, 388th BG. 2/Lt. John W McLaughlin and crew all POW (crew had baled out after earlier fighter attack took out the controls). Zweigart achieved an "eV" (endgultige vernichtung) in other words...

BTW "Le Cambeaux" for the location of his 'shoot-down' on 8 June is a typo or a mis-reading...he came down at Les Champeaux, 10 km south-west of Vimoutiers ( cf. Frappé, p238)
