Luftwaffe & Allied total victory over North Africa？
 

Can anyone out there help with LW & Allied victory （at least the ”claim victoty“ ）over North Africa？ please. I heard of that the number is aboat 1400 in Shores & Ring, Fighters Over The Desert，but I doubt about it ， according to the claims in North Africa for JG 27、JG77、JG53

yes,i knew the Mr Christer Bergström's thread 8 years ago and it's helpful to me,unfortunately i can't find the information i need ,which is the Luftwaffe or Jadgwaffe total victory over North Africa from April.1941 to May 1943 including JG27&JG53&JG77&7./JG26&II./JG 2

Dear cheesin,

The best source on this subject is the multi-volume magnum opus by Jochen Prien et al, "Die Jagdfliegerverbände der Deutscen Luftfwaffe 1934 bis 1945". I have volume 11 part I, which has statistics on operations in the Mediterranean during 1943. The total claims and losses for 1943 are as follows:
1575 claims (12 by I/JG 4 over Romania)
1092 total losses (8 from I/JG 4 over Romania)
826 aircraft damaged (12 from I/JG 4 over Romania)

Part I of Volume 11 also has data for a few specific Gruppen, but you will have to ask other forum members for the rest, since I do not have the other parts of this volume. See data below:

II/JG 2 claimed 103 aircraft destroyed between 1 January and 22 March 1943 and 18 more in November and December 1942, for a total of 121 in Tunisia.
II/JG 27 claimed 51 from 1 March to 13 May 1943, operating from Italy.
III/JG 27 claimed 2 over Malta on 12 April and 2 more over Tunisia in May.
II/JG 51 claimed 71 over Tunisia in 1943 and a total of 124 since November 1942.
Stab/JG 53 claimed 9 over Tunisia to 12 February 1943.
I/JG 53 claimed 77 over Tunisia to 4 May 1943.
